While recently doing some genealogy, I found an ancestor who moved to the “Sunflower State.” I had to stop and find which state that was. A week later I was working on the pioneers of Muskegon County and one of them died in the “Sage Brush State.” I found a two year old encyclopedia and a new one and looked up the states nicknames. To my amazement, some of the nicknames changed. I promised myself I would never have to look them up again, so why should anybody else!
